Jonathan Wigglesworth

The Sailing Ferret

This is the story of my adventures. My real name is Jonathan Wigglesworth, but I have lots of nicknames. One of them is "CJ". It stands for "Claws and Jaws", because... well, I'll let you guess why! When I was a small lad, I sailed in a shoe. Well, it was a size 13 sneaker, but it sure seemed like a boat to me!

Later, when I grew up, I learned to sail on a real boat. I am a good lookout. My favorite spot is up on the bow. I hunker down right by the anchor. That way I feel safe and secure and I can see right where we're going. I can see everything!

I know every nook and cranny on the boat, from stem to stern. And everywhere in between. If the Captain or the Mate loses something, I can "ferret" it out in no time. Nothing gets past me.

Of course, I have a few other favorite spots to hang out too. One of them is up on the cabin, next to the windshield. This is a great spot, because I can see all around but I don't have to worry about falling over the side.

If I do want to go swimming, the best spot is in the stern, by the swim platform. If I want to, I can jump right in and swim to the beach. This doesn't make the Captain very happy, or the Mate either. So, most of the time I don't really go swimming, I just pretend.

One time I did go to the beach. The waves scared me at first, but I got used to it right away. I loved the seaweed. I could roll around in it and hide in the beach grass. It was fun!

Too bad summer doesn't last all year. I want to go sailing again!
